A computer (student) drawn diagram showing the scanning pattern of a raster scan in CLSMs. Each pixel is imaged before moving onto an adjacent horizontal picture. Once at the end of the imaging field, the microscope will move to the next point directly below and move in the opposite direction to the above scan. This continues until the whole field is scanned and an image is formed.
