2011 Lab 1
This laboratory is an introduction to cell biology methods and historic background to cell biology discoveries. This laboratory page and textbook alone contain enough information as an introduction to the subject for this level of study.
The second part of the laboratory will be to introduce the Group and Individual projects that form part of your final course assessment.
- OHS Issues
- Cell Biology Textbooks
- Online Cell Biology Textbooks and Resources
- What’s Happening in Cell Biology and Cell Biology Methods
- The Individual and Group Assessment Work
1. OHS Issues
We will look through how health and safety is protected while working in the research laboratory.
2. Cell Biology Textbooks
I have brought along a range of cell biology textbooks that we will look through and determine the main issues identified within the texts.
- NCBI Bookshelf - Molecular Biology of the Cell, 4th edition | Molecular Cell Biology, 4th edition | The Cell, 2nd edition A Molecular Approach
3. Online Cell Biology Textbooks and Resources
Today there are a range of online cell biology textbooks and resources that we will identify.
4. What’s Happening in Cell Biology and Cell Biology Methods
Using the UNSW journal connections we will look at the key journals and identify current research concepts and techniques.
5. The Individual and Group Assessment Work
Your individual and group assessment in this course will all be submitted in an online format. I will spend some time assisting you in working in this online media.
