2008 ANAT3231 Lecture 10 Cell Cytoskeleton - Microtubules

Introduction

This lecture introduces the cell cytoskeleton filament system of microtubules. In the lectures to date we have introduced the concept of transport within the cell (exocytosis, endocytosis), energy requirements (mitochondria), cell junctions (adhesion) and cells dividing. This current lecture on microtubules relates and links all these topics together. We will also be covering this topic again in cell division.

There are many different types of cellular junctions that occur between cells and the matrix which surrounds them. This topic will be addressed again when we look at the cell cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix.

Comments

In 2008 a new way of presenting course content online is being trialled. Please let me know of any difficulties/suggestions or things that work well.

Notice also that in some slides I have added annotations in brackets with my initials (MH - )
