2008 ANAT3231 Lecture 09 - Cell Cytoskeleton 1 - Intermediate Filaments

Introduction

This lecture gives a general introduction to the cell cytoskeleton and will be covered in a series of 3 lectures describing each of the filament systems. This first lecture introduces the intermediate filaments, their structure and function within the cell. There are many different types of cellular junctions that occur between cells and the matrix which surrounds them. This topic will be addressed again when we look at the cell cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix.

In 2008 a new way of presenting course content online is being trialled. Please let me know of any difficulties/suggestions or things that work well.

Notice also that in some slides I have added annotations in brackets with my initials (MH - )
