Medicine: Society and Health: Injury

Introduction

Injury will be discussed in relation to the response at the cellular level of many different insults that result in tissue damage.

At the tissue level, there are coordinated cellular responses to tissue injury.

The degree of injury will determine the response; small injury may cause localized inflamation, serios injury will cause cell death by necrosis. There is also still discussion whether necrosis and/or apoptosis is the main form of cell death.
